You must remember that much of the speed in later 5.5 versions was
gained by optimizing the code. In 2006, it still hasn't been stable
long enough to focus on optimization and the efforts right now are
directed towards developing UB and Cocoa.
Just for the fun, imagine that I do not care about UB (no MacIntel) and I do not
think that Cocoa can give to me.
On the other hand, speeding the IDE / Compile / StandAlone gives something to
every users, not only Mac Users / Mac Intel Users...
