Try setting the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit, size of ethernet
packets) a
little lower than 1500, e.g. 1492, 1484,...

Nota: I actually use AirPort, so... but I do not found those settings
(Speed, Duplex, MTU).
If it was possible, I would say that I have a virus... on Mac OS X
10.4.7, last Security Update, etc.

Hi,
If you wanted to try to alter your MTU for testing purposes, you can
follow the info listed here:

And if you wanted to make that permanent I'm sure you could make a
script and make that a startup item.
Also, there are viruses that can, and do, infect OS X, so I wouldn't
just assume that it couldn't happen.
