No, you do not have a virus.

Your speed issue may be related to a recent discovery of an issue with some cable modems and Macs - it has to do with DOCSIS setups on the modems.

When connected directly, a Windows machine works at full speed, when connecting a Mac, it is about 1/3 the speed of the windows machine.

Motorola was the first to acknowledge this bug and their suggestion, until they fix the firmware issue, is to use an older modem.

We have first hand experience with this one.

However, you may also have something interfering with your Airport signal. Try changing the channel on your Airport Base Station... The default is 11 and it needs to be changed by 3. So try 14 and see if that is better, if not, 8 etc etc.
