That's exactly what the device does. It sits there and listens to
both A
and B ports. Whichever one sends data becomes the active port and
the other
port is blocked until both ports are quiet. All you have to do is
send a
command to the "printer" (or whatever device you have at the far
end) when
the app launches, and the Switch senses activity on that port and
makes it
the active one.
Unless your device is constantly sending a stream of data, it
should work.
it seems like all of these automatic switch hubs have a timeout value
- after that time elapses without any activity, it switches back to
scanning mode or whatever its default state is. Unfortunately, this
freaks out the printer and causes the printing job to crash.
I need a hub that accepts switching commands from the computer *and*
a physical switch, and doesn't do any switching behind my back.
