... I know that. My question was theoretical because I'll use KlDĂ© as long as I develop my app and only then I'll look at apple's website (since I don't have an application which conflicts actually on my system, why would I change now?)
In theory, it's safe, since a creator code is just a 32-bit unsigned integer. In practice, it's not safe since programs that manipulate creator codes often assume that the only legitimate values are ASCII alphabetics (plus a handful of others). If you know all of the assumptions of the programs that might access the creator code and know that they will work, it's safe. But if you knew this information, why are you asking? So, you don't know it. So, it's not safe. Just register a code and don't worry about it.
