I know that. My question was theoretical because I'll use KlDé as
long as I develop my app and only then I'll look at apple's website
(since I don't have an application which conflicts actually on my
system, why would I change now?)
In theory, it's safe, since a creator code is just a 32-bit unsigned
integer.
Mark Nutter posted a link that revealed:
"Your creator code must consist of lower ASCII characters between
decimal 32 and decimal 127 (inclusive)".
That's strange since 127 is the delete key (a non printable one).
In practice, it's not safe since programs that manipulate creator
codes often assume that the only legitimate values are ASCII
alphabetics (plus a handful of others).
Indeed, good point. Anyway, no program should modify the creator code
of one of my files since they are only useable by my application.
If you know all of the assumptions of the programs that might access
the creator code and know that they will work, it's safe.
I don't know.
But if you knew this information, why are you asking?
So, you don't know it.
So, it's not safe.
No, I meant I know how to register a creator code.
What I didn't know was "Before registering such codes, what are the
allowed characters?".
Just register a code and don't worry about it.
It's "just" for knownledge.
