I do not know how are autoincrement column implemented in SQLite. The
idea behind self-constructed primary key is to be able to get the key

UUID is constructed from time (with nanosecond granulation), MAC
address, uptime, random number etc. and should be universally unique
(as the name suggests.) More information here:

Both Mac OS X and Windows have system functions returning UUID, so
implementing UUID as primary key should be straightforward.
