I do not know how are autoincrement column implemented in SQLite. The idea behind self-constructed primary key is to be able to get the key outside of transaction.

UUID is constructed from time (with nanosecond granulation), MAC address, uptime, random number etc. and should be universally unique (as the name suggests.)
