Okay, this might be easy. If every string is of the form "NCP\d+",
then do something like this.
dim keyList(-1) as Integer
for i as Integer = 0 to UBound(dataList)
keyList.Append Val(Replace(dataList(i), "NCR", ""))
Next
keyList.SortWith dataList

Your sort looks correct to me. The sorting code is working, so
the question you should ask is "why is "NCP100" <= NCP67"?

Mine was in R4 ... and I didn't recall this happening

After working through this, I realized that the opportunity
for up to
9,999 iterations of each letter variant can occur, so I've

the tool that produces the output to provide the numeric
