When you create a menu item in the IDE, are you creating a subclass
of MenuItem? If so, then what you observe would be a bug.
I'm not creating a subclass. I'll give that a try, but I don't see why
it should be required, given that these constructs work for
non-subclassed windows and controls.
Do they? I recall being told that dropping a control onto a window
had the effect of creating a subclass. But certainly I cannot test
for, say, an EditField1 outside the window in which I define it. The
REALbasic language is not entirely clear in some of these situations.
