All I am saying is if it has text, then why not include ALL the text
attributes?

True. You could make a feature request for this but be aware that color
choice may not be a part of the standard OS API. In that case, it is
unlikely that RS will make a custom control for you.
The other choice is to make your own custom control with a canvas but for
simply having colored text, the overlay is the simplest method.
I also neglected to mention that Composite must be selected for my
example to work on OSX.
