I burned an OSX PEF executable, a Win32 executable, a database, and a
whole bunch of pictures on a dual-layer DVD using UFS as the file
system. The Mac side works fine. The program runs, it accesses the
database, displays the pictures and everyone is happy. The Windows
side, however is having problems. First, the program is slow. Like,
not okay slow, but unacceptably slow. It takes a minute for the
program to load, compared to 15 seconds on the Mac. Second, the
database cannot be opened. This doesn't occur to ANY other file on
the entire DVD. If I try to copy it to the hard drive, it tells me
that's an invalid MS-DOS function, and if I tell my program to open
it from the DVD, it thinks for about five minutes and finally says
the database is either encrypted or is not a database.
One more pice of info: I did this exact project last year, and it
worked just fine. The only differences were last year I used iDVD to
make the disc and this year I used Dragon Burn, and last year I used
a single layer DVD whereas this year it's a dual-layer DVD.
First of all, is this problem easily fixed from within RB? Or is
this a Windows problem? Should I write a program that copies the app
and the database to the hard drive and launches it from there?
