Hey there!

I have a fairly simple app which iterates through the styleruns and checks for bolds and italics and underlines, adding <strong> and <cite> and <em> tags where appropriate. It's worked fine on Mac for months, but now I'm going to be out of town, but still need to work for a day, and have only managed to procure a PC. So, now I'm testing my app on Windows and finding that it works HORRIBLY. Instead of quickly replacing the styled text with the new plain text, the editfield flickers ridiculously while the scrollbar jumps up and down. This happens for minutes before the process is done.

After many unsuccessful attempts at getting the remote debugger to work (another time perhaps) I've resorted to msgBoxing markers to myself, and I've discovered that the delay is not in my loop, iterating through the styleRuns, but actually is caused by my one call to StyleRunCount:

runCount = me.StyleRunCount-1

Good lord! I just want to punch that in the face!! Can anyone explain why this is happening, and better yet, help me fix it? Or, failing that, tell me where the face is on StyleRunCount so I know where to punch?

I strongly support RB incorporating Formatted Text Control. I have used RB primarily to make specialized text editors and I have always found so many limitations!

RB 5.5.4, Mac OS X 10.4.7, usually, but this time I'm running XP
