Hello,

Dave, I would love to update my listings, but I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to change with the current system. The "description" for the class/module doesn't generally change with an update, and there's no field for "version number" or "what's new".

Is the version number supposed to be included in the name? And the new features added to the description? If a developer posts an update like this will it appear in the "New Listings" section?

Thanks,

Bjorn,

Thanks for your feedback!

Like you've suggested, I've often thought about auto-sorting the listings with newer or recently modified listings at the top of categories and older stale listings being sent to the bottom of the categories, but that would negatively affect the alphabetical sorting which makes specific items easier to find. I think most people expect the listings in portal directories like
RBGarage.com and VersionTracker.com to be alphabetically sorted.

As for listing version info, I have mixed feelings about that since
developers do not seem to stay on top of their listings, so with version info listed, many of the listings would become outdated way too quickly for
no reason.

I'll give this some more thought... Thanks! :-)

You don't need to, once someone has once posted then its not likely
that their 2nd time is a spam or bogus post.
And you don't need to take out obsoletes either, versioning takes
care of all that since by nature then products that are never updated
never get focus on them, and end at bottom in the pile (where they
belong).
