I recently ran into an issue while applying a translation company's Japanese
text to a customer's web site.

The charset was set to "Shift_JIS". When opening the HTML file locally on my
machine, all the text looked fine. Then, uploading the exact same file to
the web site's server, all of a sudden all the text is garbage.

Never did figure out what the real problem was, ended up converting all of
the Japanese characters to their HTML char code equivalents, which so far
seems to be working out without complaints.
