It seems to me that a lot of developers might prefer to buy from just a
handful of "established" large 3rd pty vendors. There is always the worry of
support issues when designing in some 3rd party plugin that comes from
someone that doesn't actually make much money from their add- on,
irrespective of how good or useful that add-on is. The problem is that such
vendors are always going to have other jobs/contracts etc to support them,
which in turn means that little time is available for maintaining and
improving the plugin.

With this in mind I wonder if any of the bigger players ( I am thinking
Einhugur, Monkeybread, Valentina - even RS themselves possibly ) might want
to get together with smaller vendors to - not only provide a bigger sales
outlet - but also to provide some sort of licensed "escrow" on the source
code - so that in the event of a small vendor no longer being able to
maintain and support their plugin,  that software could then be passed over
to and supported by the larger outfit and giving users of the plugin more
"peace of mind".
