Yes, and it has the same immutable strings as RB (and most other
modern languages).  And it does NOT use C-style NUL termination: Perl
strings can include NULs, just like RB.

And, for all you who like to complain about Perl's lack of
readability, I've had to deal with some pretty incomprehensible RB
programs.  While there's some gray areas, a bad programmer can program
badly in any language.
