Interesting. Yes, I did test it, and once I moved the dim statements, I
couldn't get the second loop to be slower no matter what esoteric thing I
did in the second loop. It always won.
This was on Windows XP.
I realize this is all anecdotal.
Sometimes you're going to get different results on Mac OS and Windows, for
any one of a million possible reasons. A change for one can actually hurt
the other.
I would be curious to see the results on a Core Duo just to see if they
exhibit the same differences I'm seeing between my Mac and PC, i.e. if it's
processor level or something else.
