This is rather an arbitrary position since RS has switched command
keys on us before without any concern for "muscle memory." For
example the debugger keys to step through, in, and out of code
were changed.

The time we switched keyboard shortcuts was when we redesigned the UI completely. Pretty much all muscle memory was lost at that point. If we were to change the keyboard shortcuts right now, it would be done for a completely arbitrary reason, would go against the HIG, and would serve to confuse as many, if not more, people than it would help.

However, adding customizable menu shortcuts would benefit nearly everyone.
