Yes, it would be nice if RB had a Preference feature where we could
turn off the automatic new project launch. Also, I have the prior
versions of RB on my system. So when I directly launch an old
project, it launches under the version that it was created with.
Even when I change the "Open with" in the "Get info" screen. That
gets changed back to its original setting after I close the
project. Seems like old projects just want to go home to mama.
Sometimes it just won't go "back to mama" but load in the latest
version of Rb installed. That's particularly a Mac thing that I found
an easy way out of.
I simply keep all other versions, except the one I want as "default"
on a separate partition from my boot volume.
I keep icons on my dock for all I am currently using (including betas).
Here's another twist.
If you have Versions 5.5.x and 200x on your boot volume, if neither
is open, 5.5.x projects will launch Rb 5.5.x and 200x projects will
launch the 200x version on the boot volume. If 200x is running
though, 5.5.x projects will launch in 200x.
As far as the new project launch, I agree that it might make sense to
make this a user preference however it really doesn't take much
effort to circumvent it.
Is it a priority for RS to change? Not in my opinion.
