Yes. As of RB 2006r2 ( the release I am using) you cannot access
the DB across the LAN. I forget if it was a X-plat issue or just a
LAN issue.
Anyhow, Don't know if there has been a workaround created. I was
told at the time that it was an "Apple" issue.
I reported a problem with accessing RealSQLDB files on network shares
a while back:

The issue is to do with the locking mechanism on OS X which can cause
corrupted databases. Interestingly there is an update to the report
saying Apple has provided a patch to sqlite and the latest version
(v3.3.8) has this added but disabled.
So here is hoping that update can be in the next version of RB...
