I tried your original code and got the same result. Weird.
I managed to work around it by creating a brand new dragitem object
instead of the one supplied by the DragRow event handler.
Sub DragRow(drag as dragitem, index as integer)
dim d as new dragItem
d.picture = new picture(me.rowheight,me.width,32)
d.drag
End Sub

I will play around with that...... maybe set the text to nil
before setting the picture...?
Regardless, I think I will report it as a bug......

I ran into this a while back, but can't recall exactly what I did
about
it. The DragItem class gets a bit cantankerous when you attempt
to add
both text and pictures to the same item, though it's supposed to be
possible. I think maybe in this case, the listbox has already added
the row text? Or something like that.
Unfortunately, I don't have an example of this working -- the one
project where I do something similar, actually initiates its own drag
in the MouseDown and MouseDrag events.
Best,
