RB does use over a gig of real memory, especially when precompiling the MBS plugins. However it seems to run fine when compiling my 7 MB project on my 2 GB MBP in most cases. The main problem occurs when I try to remote debug to Parallels/win Xp on the same machine. There's definitely a lot of swapping and noticible slowdowns then. That's the only time I wish I could have more memory.
