I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with one of my email accounts. When sending messages (with Eudora) it connects quickly but then hangs for a
significant amount of time before completing the send.

I thought I might be able to troubleshoot this using a SMTPSocket to look at messages being exchanged, but it seems they are obscured from users. Does anybody know of a way to see what the socket is sending and receiving with RB? I know I could do a TCP dump, but I can see other possible benefits of
following the transaction in RB if it's possible.

This would not seem to address the issue. If you are having trouble with Eudora then the obvious thing to look at is what conversation Eudora is having with the server. You can do this with a packet capture tool like tcpdump. There are other tools available as well that do this. This will be able to show you the actual traffic that is passing between Eudora and the server.
