I'm a bit surprised you couldn't have predicted the reaction, but probably the reaction was a bit out-of-proportion simply because the "delete list" action was so unexpected and deadline so short.
In the future, using the list -- or a few of the list's top contributors -- to test ideas might be a good idea. Suggest it here and see what people think before you make a decision.
At any rate, thank you very much for keeping the list. It's a small gesture, but we appreciate it. And if there's anything we can do to help in your "consolidation" problem, please let us know. Ideas were bouncing around during the last few days and I bet some technical solution could be created that would solve the problem.
