My app makes heavy use of QuickDraw for fast graphics calculations
(PtInRgn, polygon and region manipulations, etc).

I worry that at some point the QD calls will dropped from the OS. Is
there a replacement for such calls in OS X? Or must we rely on custom
code?

He said he wanted fast :-) Quartz can do more, but is no match for QD in terms of speed on the things they both can do. In some projects I've actually resorted to caching Quartz rendered pieces, then assembling the pieces using QD, to try and speed up operations that would otherwise be too slow to be useful.

FWIW, I don't think QuickDraw is going any where any time soon.
