First I am on a Mac so I don't use wave files at least I don't think Macs use those I am not looking at converting the files I simply want to import them off the cd (ie copy them off the cd and put them in a directory (or folder)) and then list them in my listbox

I will use QuickTime to play them

copy the files off any cd inserted and put them in a special folder?

If you just ant to copy the WAV files off of the CD, then standard FolderItem operations will get the job done. To see where that comes from, open a Music CD and you'll be able to drag and drop the song files to another folder as WAV format files.

If you're looking to convert the song files to something else such as OGG or MP3, you'll need to either write of find a helper app that will perform the conversion (QuickTime Profession will do this for you).
