Markus,

Esellerate itself it not the cause of your headache but rather the  
implementation by the developer. The esellerate feature you are  
talking about is called "Activation". With activation a developer can  
limit the amount of machines a program can be installed on. They  
could chose 1 or 1000 or even not to use the feature at all (which I  
believe most developers do.) Developers also have the ability to add  
extra Activations on a per order basis.

If you have an issue with the developers policy try contacting them  
and see what they say.

Being a developer that does use esellerate I have been very pleased  
with them (besides not being able to build Win32 EWS targets which  
will hopefully change soon.) I would definitely want to know if my  
serial number system was causing aggravation with my customers.
