Are you trying to do this for yourself or for people who will be using your
application?

If it is the latter, I really think that you should register your
application and document type with Windows using abRegWinIcon as I suggested
in my earlier post. It's very easy to use and can be incorporated into your
application.

If you are doing this only for your own convenience, everything you're doing
seems to be the proper thing to do.

Make sure you are doing all of the following:

1) Right click the document and select "Open With" and then "Choose
Program..."
2) Click the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
check box.
3) If you do not see your application in the list, click the "Browse..."
button and select your application.
4) Click the "OK" button.

If your extension is always this same, your document type should bow be
associated with your application and nothing should change this. If you
have followed these steps, and your extension is always the same, yet you
are still having problems, then it could be that another application is
removing your association. I have seen this happen in the past, especially
with QuickTime.

What is your extension?

Hopefully I'm not misunderstanding your situation. If I am, ignore this
post.
