RB has always allowed PEF->mach-o and mach-o->PEF for plug-ins and declares
(really how else could a PEF app call almost anything on OS X). Many of the
older plug-ins that ship with RB are still PEF. In our case we have a rather
large plug-in that is PEF and moving it to mach-o is non-trivial. We've been
stuck using 2007r3 (missing out on the secure socket fixes) until the bug
was fixed in one of the 2007r5 betas.
