we usually connect the encoder to the S-VHS or Composite Analog output
of the beamer (projector), which is used to project the slide show on
a big screen. Most equipment those days has such outputs, at least
the ones used by our customers.

We are currently trying to get the exlivpix RealPix streaming utility
from the SDK work on our SGI systems, so we could combine a live picture
stream (could either be a "real" live signal from a beamer through its
S-VHS/Composite Analog output or pre-scanned jpeg images on the disk)
and a video stream together by using SMIL. Unfortunately, the exlivpix
utility just dumps core when the IRMALiveRealPix::StartEncoder() method
from the IRIX shared library is being called (server is 6.0.3.353).
BTW: Has anyone got the exlivpix utility working on SGI IRIX 6.2?

Best regards,

Stefan
