Hello FearNo1. I would say that if you have an ISDN connection, and a
robust enough machine, I'm confident that you could do it all using just
the one PC, .. that's if ISDN connections come with static IP addresses, .
which I'm not sure about. If that ends up being the case, however, simply
point your encoder to 'localhost' in place of an IP address, then launch
the free basic server on the same machine and begin the session. I've been
using precisely this setup for some time now using a mere P133 w/128 mb ram
running Win95, and when I'm not bogged down by the crappy bandwidth
fluctuations of my cable modem service, I can go strong for hours on end.
With dedicated bandwidth like with what you get with ISDN, and a new P2
processor with a reasonable amount of ram, I don't see any reason why you
can't pull off having 9-10 simultaneous client connnections, ..if not more.
As far as the licensing / legality issues are concerend, I think just so
long as you're not using the free basic server to provide content that you
charge people $ for, you should be in the clear. If your going to be using
an offsite ISP to rebroadcast your live stream, however, then it is the
ISP's responsibility to have the proper licensing in place. This is how
they can justify upping the pricetag when billing you for hosting services,
.. since once an ISP goes above and beyond 40 client license for their
realserver(s), the price skyrockets like you wouldn't believe.
Regards,
