I have found that if I export from Powerpoint as JPG and then convert to
GIF in Paintshop Pro, they look great. Paintshop Pro also has a batch
conversion tool.

I found that if you "Print" the slides as PDF (using Acrobat PDF writer or
Distiller) then use PhotoShop to batch convert them to JPG files using a
combination of batch and action commands will result in excellent quality
images, email me direct for more specific details. The entire process can
be
quickly accomplished with one print command from PowerPoint and one click
in
PhotoShop, once you have the actions and batch command setup.
