Yeah I'd seen that already,  its an option I have up my sleeve :)

however G2 server already has a port open,  (6060 I think by default) that
the java monitor connects to.  It just seems a real bugger to have to write
a plugin that opens another port and also writes all this same data out.
  If I could find out what data is been sent to the already open port I only
have to write a client to tap into it saving me some work.
