Full size is 640x480 (Although NTSC can sometimes be 720)
half is 320x240
quarter is 160x120

Most cards only support those sizes as presets. Most cards do also
support user-defined sizes.

A lot of the choice is preference. If we are pushing video to 28.8
users, we prefer 160x120. Larger sizes decrease the quality of the
images and since we run emphasize audio and sharpest image quality (low
frame rate, but really good picture as long as there isn't too much
motion) it seems to work best for us.

Some of the slightly larger sizes work well for 56k.

The important part is maintaining the proper aspect ratio. Both on the
input and on the client display. Real Player seems to take more CPU and
it doesn't look as good if the aspect ratio is off in the video window.
Remember that if you are scaling your video window larger than the
stream.

With regard to video dimensions, when we first set up our system using
RealServer 5.0, we were told by Real techs that the correct size was
custom, at 176 x 132... where did 160/120 come from??? We've since
upgraded to G2 and have stuck with the 176 x 132, but could someone
provide the nitty gritty on what the default size should be and why?

Thanks!
