We are capturing audio and video from a Beta SP and had to get a level and
impedance converter to go from balanced audio to unbalanced. This device
works great and we're getting great results without having to do any audio
adjustments. The item is a Match-Maker MM100 and is available through
Markertek Video Supply at 1-914-246-3036 or at www.markertek.com. Hope this
helps.

Sounds like you need a mixer between your audio source and your audio card,
with a slider you can pull down to control levels. I also would check your
line levels, do you have line level outputs going into microphone level card
inputs? These are basic suggestions but it usually pays to start with the
basics when it comes to trouble shooting. Good luck.
