1. You can't use the Miro DC30 to encode a live stream.

I believe that the Miro DC30 captures video using an M-JPEG CODEC. As far
as I know, the Real Producer does not transcode M-JPEG to RealMedia (G2 or
5.0 CODECs) live . As a result, it is not possible to use a Miro DC30 for
live encoding. You may however capture video as QuickTime (on a Mac) or AVI
(on a PC) and then encode from that static file. By the way, what
platform/OS are you running?

2. I recommend either the Viewcast Osprey 100 or 1000 video capture cards
for live encoding.

If you have a Wintel box, The Viewcast Osprey 100 is an excellent video
capture card and can be used for live encoding. I believe it runs about
$199.00 (for the Windows 95/98/NT version). It does rely on the host
processor for certain functions so it helps to have a fast machine. It does
not have audio input so you need to have a separate audio card. For audio
input I have used everything from a SoundBlaster Live to a 4 channel Antex
Studio A/V audio card. For the price the Osprey 100 is hard to beat.

Viewcast makes another card called the Osprey 1000. It has both audio and
video input and also has hardware accelerated encoding for the Real Networks
G2 CODEC. It is much more expensive than its sibling. However, it takes
the load off of the host processor and promises higher frame rate and better
picture quality when used for live encoding. It is also possible to install
multiple Osprey 1000 cards in a single machine enabling you to
simultaneously encode for multiple bandwidths.

For live encoding the 1000 is probably the best choice.
