I found a useful little piece of software at www.cypressnet.com called
Launchpad. An evaluation is available there to download.
It allows you to detect conditions and act on them, e.g. when x window is
open, carry out y command... including the ability to open or close apps at
scheduled times.

Subject: G2 Player command-line
Forum:
>From another program, I'd like to execute the G2 Player to listen to a
live
broadcast (this is all done automatically).
I do this by simply executing the realplay.exe program file.
If the live broadcast is active, everything is fine. If the broadcast is
not there, I get the standard error dialog box indicating that the request
that the requested file is not found.
Since this is all happening automatically, the error dialog just sits up
there. The next time a live broadcast starts, the player is started again
(activating the previous instance), but since the error dialog is still up,
no connection is made (they player just sits there saying "connecting" until
the error dialog is closed).
I could fire up a browser instead giving it a rtsp url or something, but I
think the result will be the same.
Is there a way to fire up the player and if an error is detected to either
close the error dialog or close the player back down?
