I've used both. I didn't see any huge differnece, but I've heard that
the 1000 gives a better pic, and it's less of a strain on the CPU. The
100 is about 10 times cheaper, if that makes any diff.

I've asked RN about this, and as far as I can tell, when the encoder
disconnects from the server because of traffic on the network between
them, the only thing to do is restart the encoder. And of course,
there's no easy way for the encoder to automatically restart itself.
I've found no parameters for this, and I've also not found any
workaround. The closest I've found is to set up an alert using WinNT
Performance monitor, and take an action when either the encoder CPU
percentage drops below a certain amount ( like 20 % if the CPU normally
encodes using 50% or more) or the output in bits per second drops below
the encoding rate. If you find a better way, I'd sure be interested
to hear how you do it. And I'd like RN to put in an automatic
reconnect feature, if they're listening :-).
