Well, yes - it does degrade the video quality, but so does encoding from a
camera, or an AVI file. The question of how to convert mpeg to real was
asked. Since RealProducer (at least the free version) doesn't accept mpeg
as an input format, the original file has to be converted to something that
it will accept. This seems to work. When converting from mpeg to AVI, I
use FULL FRAME - NO COMPRESSION. Comparing the AVI to the original MPEG,
there is very little difference (except that using no compression, you need
a really fast computer to play back the avi). If you'd like to see a
sample of a clip that was converted as described, you can look at "The
