Subject: Connection control - limiting to 20kpbs
We do virtually all on-demand clips here and I have a lot of them
SureStreamed for 28.8modems, 56k modems, and LAN speeds. This is great
normally, but on New Year's Eve we're expanding dramatically to have lots
of little interviews and updates and Lord knows what else.
We're getting a T1 dedicated to the RealServer to handle this, which ought
to be enough...but I want to limit what people get to be just 20kbps (the
28.8 modem speed) regardless of their actual connection. It's all
spoken-word so I'm not worried about audio quality.
Now all work I do on that evening is going to be encoded at single-rate
20kbps so that's not a problem, but all the other stuff that's still
SureStreamed might be...is there any way I can force my RealServer to only
allow the 28.8modem part of the SureStream to be delivered on those clips?
I know I can limit the TOTAL bandwidth that the RealServer will use - I
don't think that's what I want.
Suggestions?
(Thanks in advance!)
