Subject: File locking
This may have been addressed before, but I hadn't found it in looking =
back through the archives:
On an NT server, is there a way to either set a flag on an .rm file or =
configure the server so that one can delete/update a file even though it =
is in use. Obviously, the individual(s) receiving the file(s) would =
have their streams interrupted, but that's OK by us. Currently, we =
either have to wait until the users finish watching a particular clip or =
we cycle the Real Server and THEN update the file ... both of which are =
pretty lousy ways to handle this. The Real Server or NT locks the file =
when even one user getting a stream.
[ RF: Good question, but it is actually an NT issue, not a RealServer
issue. You can update the file just fine running on a UNIX platform. ]
