Subject: Linux questions

Does anyone here know if the 2 Gb filesize limit/barrier for AVI files is
overcome when doing desktop video on the Linux platform? If so, is there a
maximum filesize on that platform, and what is it?

Also, can the Linux version of RealProducer read and encode Quicktime 3.0 &
4.0 format files? I encountered a problem a while back where a 3.5 GB
quicktime movie that I exported from Premiere (which played beautifully both
in premiere and using the Quicktime 4.0 player) could not be recognized and
encoded by my copy of RealProducer on the NT platform. A tech guy at
RealNetworks informed me of the fact that RealProducer on the Wintel
platform only supports Quicktime files that are in 2.0 format, .. but that
the MAC version could recognize and encode the 3.0 & 4.0 quicktime formats.
So does this also apply to the Linux version of RealProducer?

Thanks,
