Try using layer visibility.
The 1st layer has the still-image and begins as visible.
The 2nd layer has the embedded player as Image Window, is layered IN FRONT
OF the image, and begins as hidden.
Monitor play state, and once buffering has completed, toggle the visibility
of the layers.
This prevents the "blackhole" of an empty player while buffering.
There is also a third layer with a Status Bar that is always visible, so the
user knows that video is buffering, etc...

Subject: Embeded smil question

Hello,

I am trying to use a simple smil file to embed a video
in a web page. The trick is to have an image displayed
in the video area before the user plays the video. In
other words something very similar to the QT effect of
having the first frame of the video show before the
video is played

I am assuming smil is the best way to do this with
Real, but welcome all solutions.

Thank you,

Pat
