Craig,
SMIL does not support "Indefinite". I can think of a couple of ways to sort
of achieve what you want in SMIL:

<body>
      <par>
            <!-- displays the gif and freezes it -->
        <img src="mypix.gif" fill="freeze" region="mypix"/>
        <video src="live.rm" region="video"/>
      </par>
</body>

Or you could play a RealPix file that simply loops a number of images.

<body>
      <par>
            <!-- plays the RealPix file that could simply loop a couple of
images -->
        <img src="mypix.rp" fill="freeze" region="mypix"/>
        <video src="live.rm" region="video"/>
      </par>
</body>

I have also tried using a short RealPix file with the repeat="yournumber"
parameter in the SMIL file, but didn't like the resulting performance.

Good luck,
Rich

If all you want to do is run a single image or set of images for as long as
a live stream is running (from minutes to hours...), what might the SMIL
command be?

I've tried inserting a single image into a stream, but it will not remain
there unless I specify a time. Our users listen to our Internet radio
stations for times ranging from a few minutes to a few hours. We'd simply
like to cycle some pix through the player as it streams audio.

Does SMIL support "indefinite"?

Cheers,

Craig Preston
