but when i came to the point to start the server all went wrong non of the servers responded and crashed instantly getting windows msg the osg server not responding opensim server not responding cant start r.o.b.u.s.t and so on.
The difference is that Taiga is configured to run in grid mode, when all those different servers of opensim are run in separate processes. This is useful when you run a big grid with lots of worlds and have the different services on different computers perhaps etc. I think they have to start up in a certain order for things to work. Are you using the start.bat or something to launch them? I think with that you have to wait in every step for the previous server to start before you start the next one. This should work given you have made the database tables like in the instructions.
So yea i would still love some help using the older 0.5 server on the problems i described above if you cant help me or if its really really complicated ill give up, investing to much time now that i need to
I think one thing we could do would be to make a new release of opensim+modrex which is preconfigured for standalone and sqlite, which just work out of the box without configs or mysql datase setups etc. Without the cable beach things (openid auth, webdav inv) so wouldn't be Taiga, but otherwise the same rex server, work the same for building a scene etc. Seems useful for simple usage. or? A 0.6 release or so. I'll ask about the server guys whether this is feasible (or just answer here, Mikko or someone).
Best regards George
