The idea with Taiga is to use openid accounts, so you don't need the old style realxtend account, which is basically same as openid but nonstandard. Rex accounts do work with Naali also and the av stuff is most mature with them -- to make one you need to install the old rex av & auth server, which is at least bundled in the old 0.5 server release.
