Macromedia Has Big Plans for Flash
<http://www.devx.com/free/hotlinks/2002/ednote020502/ednote020502.asp>

"Macromedia plans to make Flash a platform for
building applications rather than just animationsand
to make the Flash playerrather than the browser
itselfthe primary target for robust Web application
development.

... Allaire says that the next-generation Flash player
will be able to run fully connected, intermittently
connected, or as a standalone application platform,
increasing its utility and flexibility.

... Macromedia will continue to deliver Flash players
for an increasing set of hardware and software
platforms and will also make it easier to consume
content from Web services, to interact with Java and
.NET components, and work seamlessly with Macromedia's
ColdFusion server technology."

Ed
