I don't think that's gratuitous -- I'd thought of doing those things, but I 
was too lazy.

This is seriously a bit of cool code now, and could be the starter seed for 
any number of board games. Thanks to all the contributors.

I just got to find the time now to grow it into  "Lemming Doom Deathmatch 3"
