Keith Urban Continues to Undergo Rehab Mon. December 04.2006 6:01 PM EST Despite a report published on Us magazine's Web site, Keith Urban's publicist says the singer has not been released from a California rehab center. The magazine reported that Urban and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, were seen having brunch Sunday (Dec. 3) at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "At this stage in [Keith's] treatment, patients are occasionally allowed to leave for short periods of time," publicist Paul Freundlich confirmed Monday (Dec. 4) to CMT Radio. "Keith is not out of rehab and is not back home in Nashville. ... He is still undergoing treatment." Urban voluntarily checked himself into rehab on Oct. 19 and is being treated at the Betty Ford Center near Palm Springs, Calif.
Dolly Parton Receives Kennedy Center Honor Mon. December 04.2006 12:33 PM EST Dolly Parton was recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday night (Dec. 3) in Washington, D.C., with a notable list of admirers paying tribute to her in song. Kenny Rogers and Carrie Underwood teamed for "Islands in the Stream," Alison Krauss offered "Jolene" and "My Tennessee Mountain Home" and Shania Twain sang "Coat of Many Colors" with Krauss on harmonies. In addition, Jessica Simpson performed "9 to 5" and Vince Gill sang "I Will Always Love You." Reba McEntire and Reese Witherspoon also spoke on behalf of Parton's numerous accomplishments. December 04.2006 12:33 PM EST The Dixie Chicks' Accidents & Accusations tour stopped in Nashville on Friday (Dec. 1) with the band avoiding any insults toward the country audience. Obviously pleased with the high attendance numbers at the Gaylord Entertainment Center, singer Natalie Maines said, "Thank God, we didn't have to cancel the whole South. It's nice to be back." In addition to their country hits and music from their latest album, the band also offered a new song they co-wrote with opening act Pete Yorn, titled "I'll Still Be Here." The tour concludes Tuesday (Dec. 5) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Darryl Worley, Mark Wills Set for USO Tour Mon. December 04.2006 12:33 PM EST Darryl Worley, Mark Wills and Keni Thomas will be returning to the Persian Gulf during the USO's Hope and Freedom Tour 2006. Scheduled to begin in mid-December, the tour will also feature comedian and radio personality Al Franken, members of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Sgt. Maj. of the Army Kenneth Preston. BMI Toasts Morgane Hayes for Writing Carrie Underwood Hit Sat. December 02.2006 5:33 PM EST Songwriter Morgane Hayes was honored Friday (Dec. 1) by BMI, the performing rights organization, for her part in composing Carrie Underwood's recent No. 1 hit, "Don't Forget To Remember Me." The celebration was held at BMI's Nashville headquarters. Underwood, who was on tour and unable to attend the party, sent Hayes a message of congratulation from Salt Lake City. BMI executive Jody Williams praised Hayes both as a songwriter and as a vocalist, calling her "the best pure country singer in town." He noted that her parents and other relatives were among the celebrants. "You know that line [in the song] that says, 'Tell Me-ma that I miss her'?" he asked. "Well, Me-ma's in the house.'" The song's other writers, Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley, are members of ASCAP, a competing performing rights society.
