New Faces Show Performers Announced Tue. December 05.2006 2:33 PM EST Rodney Atkins, Eric Church, Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift will take part in the New Faces Show during Country Radio Seminar in Nashville on March 2. Kix Brooks will host the show which provides the country radio industry a chance to see new artists perform 20-minute sets. Members of Little Big Town announced the 2007 lineup during a Tuesday morning (Dec. 5) press conference in Nashville. The New Faces show is a highlight of CRS, an annual industry convention presented by Country Radio Broadcasters Inc. CRS will be held Feb. 28-March 2 in downtown Nashville. Ronnie Milsap will participate in the Life of a Legend panel on March 1. In related news, Kenny Rogers will accept the Country Radio Broadcasters' Career Achievement Award at the Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Fame dinner and awards ceremony on Feb. 27. Radio personality Charlie Monk will also accept the CRB President's Award during the ceremony.
Carrie Underwood Wins Five Billboard Awards Tue. December 05.2006 11:52 AM EST Carrie Underwood won five Billboard Music Awards on Monday night (Dec. 4) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Her trophies included country album, new country artist, female country artist, album and female Billboard 200 album artist. Kenny Chesney won country songs artist. Presenters included Big & Rich and Wynonna. Winners were determined by the artists' performance on the Billboard charts. R&B artist Mary J. Blige was the night's biggest winner, taking home nine awards. View photos from the event. Travis Tritt's Very Best Coming in January Tue. December 05.2006 6:01 PM EST An album featuring 20 of Travis Tritt's hits will be released Jan. 30. Titled The Very Best of Travis Tritt, the compilation includes his hits on Warner Bros., as well as "Best of Intentions" and "It's a Great Day to Be Alive" (released while Tritt was signed to Columbia Records) and "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For a Long, Long Time)" (a duet with Marty Stuart released on MCA Nashville). Tritt and record producer Randy Jackson, a judge on American Idol, are working on an album of new material to be released later in 2007 on the independent label Category 5 Records.
